The Potluck Spinners and Weavers will be gathering for their monthly
Spin-Out on Friday, September 6th. Bring your spinning wheel or spindle and
join us from 2pm to 3:30pm at the Commemorative Church on at the Grand Pre
National Historic Site.
The goal is to spin in public the first Friday of every month. Check out
http://www.interweave.com/spin/Spin_Off/spin_out/sodays.html for details of
the original challenge.
Located in Nova Scotia’s Grand-Pré Rural Historic District, Grand-Pré
National Historic Site provides visitors with an opportunity to discover and
gain an appreciation for the Acadian community of Les Mines. This settlement
thrived in this area from the 1680s until the Deportation so romantically
depicted in Longfellow’s poem Evangeline.
Come explore a site that, for Acadians everywhere, is an important symbol of
a cultural renaissance that began in the 1880s. Come discover a story of
pioneer life, of tragedy, and of triumphant survival.
If you are in Nova Scotia or would like to visit during our public spinning
days, or any time for that matter, drop me an email, we’d love to have you.
